Number of marathons completed: about a dozen with a PR of 2:44:44. Marathon finish of which you are most proud and why: I would say that the 2:44 was the highlight because it was a fourth place overall at the same event in which I placed 530th when I ran my 4:27 five years earlier. Number of Boston Marathona completed: 0 Number of ultra marathons completed: more than 150 including 45-100 mile trail runs. Ultra marathon finish of which you are most proud and why: I am most proud of my 1992 season when I ran the "Western Four 100 milers" (Western States, Leadville, Wasatch, and Angeles Crest) in a 15 week period and placed 7th, 3rd, 3rd, and 5th overall respectively. Other pacing experiences: The 4-hour group at the CIM in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006. In 2003 and 2004 I crossed the finish line at 4:00:00! I have also paced at several 100 milers including the 2003 and 2004 Western States where I paced a deaf runner the entire 100 miles. Yes, my time was disappointing, but it felt so good to cross that line! How many Boston Marathons? 1996, the 100th Running Number of ultra marathons completed: 15 Ultra Marathon awards? two Western States buckles, 2002 and 2005. Event finish of which you are most proud and why: Crossing the line in 2002 at my first Western States was a pretty special day for me. The feeling of finishing 100 miles was awesome, but what made it even better is that my dear sister Denise was able to be there. I'll never forget that day. Coaching experience: None other than pacing. Other pacing experiences: I have enjoyed pacing CIM (2003, 04, 05. 06), as well as the San Diego marathon and the inaugural Salt Lake City Marathon. Other Pacing Experience: Barbara is a 3-time CIM pace team leader; she has also paced many, many friends to successful ultra marathon finishes. Other hobbies: Weight Training and Body Pump; Step Aerobics; hiking in Yosemite and the Sierra Mountains Anything else you think your Pace Group would like to know about you: My running career spans over 28 years and I've run and competed in both the Chicago and California area. I formally coached kids track and college women's cross country. I've run all kinds of distances from 1 to 100miles. Every year I compete in the Northern California Ultra Grand Prix race circuit, which covers distances from the Quad Dipsea (28.4 miles), to Rio Del Lago (100 miles), a series of 13 different race distances each year,placing first in my age group many times for the series. The key to a successful marathon: Training (so get in those 20 milers!), and your pacing yourself the day of the race. If you choose my group to run in, I'll be more than happy to get you to the finish line in 4:30. Our group will be running 10:18 miles, so plan on splits close to that mark at each mile. |

Date and name of first marathon: CIM 1986 - 3:36 minutes Number of marathon's completed: 38 Number of CIM's completed: 10 Marathon PR: 3:05 Marathon finish of which you are most proud and why: Boston Marathon 1989. When I ran my first marathon I never dreamed of being able to run in the Boston Marathon. What a self-esteem builder! Also, I should note that I ran the 1998 Michigan Trail Marathon in pouring rain with the temperature in the low 40's and on 100% muddy trails. What fun! Number of ultramarathons completed: 42 Ultra Marathon Top Finishes?: Leadville 100 - 1993 Sub 25 hour finish and top 40 ---Western States 100 -1994 - Sub 23 hours and top 50 finish. Event finish of which you are most proud and why: Leadville 100 1993 - earlier in the summer of 93 I ran the Western States 100 in very hot conditions and finished in 24:30 - just over the special award for sub 24 hours. At Leadville, I was "on the bubble" to run sub 25 hours (special award) the last 40 miles. In spite of the rain, snow and no pacer, I ran 24:53 and couldn't stop smiling for a week. I even surprised myself! Other pacing experiences: I have paced at Western States many times and was the 4:10 leader at CIM in 2002, the 4:40 leader in 2004 and the 4:45 leader in 2005 & 2006, and now the 5:00 for 2007. But without question, pacing my wife for 8 hours at Vermont 100 is an experience I will never forget. Yes, we are still married --- and she finished!
