Youth Fitness Programs

Program History

The Sacramento Running Association has offered it’s free Fall Youth Fitness Program since its inception in 1988 and it began including its maraFUNrun finale in 1990 in conjunction with the CIM. In 2010, the SRA etablished its Spring Track & Field Youth Fitness Program.

The Fall program was established in honor of Kenny King, who was Sacramento’s oldest runner at age 77. This program has since introduced more than 40,000 youngsters to the sport that Kenny loved so much. The Spring program was established to introduce Sacramento's inner city elementary school children to track & field events. It is followed by the SRA Summer All-Comers meets. All are free and funded by proceeds from the California International Marathon.

We believe these two program will help children establish life long fitness habits, so they too can be active at age 77 and beyond.  Learn more about each program by clicking on the link below.
