Marathon finish you are most proud of and why: All of them, but, 2003 Humboldt Marathon. I was in 2nd place all day until about mile 23 when I passed the first place woman. I was incredibly nervous and barely could feel my body as I kept pushing towards the finish line and finally breaking the tape. It was surreal.
Ultra marathons completed: ~50
Ultra events finished: 5 time sub-24 hour Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run; 2010 San Diego 100 3rd Female; 2009 Headlands 100 Mile Women's Champion; 2007 Women's Champion Rio Del Lago 100; 2005 Angeles Crest 100 Women's Champion ; 2004, 2005 Rocky Raccoon 100 Women's Champion. 2007 Ruth Anderson 50K Women's Champion; 2003 Run on the Sly 50 Mile Women's Champion and Sierra Nevada 52.4; Miwok 100K; American River 50 Mile; Sunmart 50 Mile; Headlands 50K.
Ultra event finish(es) of which you are most proud and why:
Western States 100 - 2007. I felt terrible from mile 1 to 100. I battled nausea, dehydration, but I never gave up and had to dig deep all day and night en route to Auburn.
Other pacing experiences: Paced the 3:40 group at the 2010 Eugene Marathon. I have paced at many ultra events and also have run marathons with many clients.
Coaching experience: Through my coaching business, Fit 2 Run, I have been coaching runners of all levels and abilities for over 10 years, helping them to achieve their running and racing goals.
Other hobbies: Yoga, swimming, reading, writing.
Anything else you think your Pace Group would like to know about you: Relax and have fun. Focus and energize yourself on all of the things during a race you can control (not what you can't). Let your pace leaders take care of the rest. Whether you are in for a Boston qualifier or a PR, it will be an exciting journey! My mantra: "Run the first half with your head and the second half with your heart."
